Our Ethics

Everything we create is certified organic by the Soil Association. Organic means working with the delicate balance and rhythms of nature, from the soil, to plants and wildlife. We oversee every stage of the plant’s journey, sowing and harvesting each flower by hand and blending the herbal oils to create our signature organic skin care products.

We are inspected by the Soil Association annually to ensure our high standards are maintained.

We are very passionate about shaping a cruelty-free world, liberated from any kind of animal testing. As well as receiving a prestigious endorsement from the Naturewatch Foundation, a charity working tirelessly for the advancement of animal rights, Herbfarmacy is also a certified cruelty-free company with PETA’s ‘Beauty Without Bunnies’ program.

For us, beauty should never come at the cost of cruelty, which is why we are committed to only testing on willing customers, family and friends.

As we grow the herbal ingredients and craft our skin care products on our five-acre farm, not only do we know exactly what goes in to our products, but also what doesn’t.

We keep our ingredients in all Herbfarmacy products simple. You won’t find any parabens, phthalates, SLS, artificial fragrances, formaldehyde, nanoparticles or propane/petroleum bases in any of our products.

All of our products are suitable for vegetarians, with many also suitable for vegans and registered with the Vegan Society. This is because we believe that Herbfarmacy should have something for everyone, regardless of skin type, sensitivity and lifestyle.

We would not be where we are today without the dedication and hard work from our team. From the growers to the makers, we celebrate their contributions in making Herbfarmacy not only a brand, but a lifestyle. As well as one of our top priorities to be kind to the environment, it is imperative that we show the same kindness to our extended family of employees. As a result, Herbfarmacy stands proud as a certified Living Wage Employer under the Living Wage Foundation.

All Herbfarmacy boxes are printed by a local company using metal-free linseed and soya-based inks. The boxes are also recyclable, biodegradable and sourced via sustainable methods.

Herbfarmacy is committed to using only green energy on the farm, harnessed from renewable sources such as sunshine and wind.

We are proud to be a certified Ethical Company after a full ethics audit by The Ethical Company Organisation. To achieve this seal of approval, all Herbfarmacy policies surrounding the environment, human rights and animal rights were rigorously checked and verified.

Each year we host a series of open days at the farm and select one charity that will receive the donations and admission fees contributed on those days. In 2018, we were proud to support Echo, a local charity based in North Herefordshire that offer opportunities to people of all ages and backgrounds the chance to learn new skills and make friends whilst being surrounded by nature.

We are also contributors to the Size of Herefordshire programme which supports two indigenous tribes in the Peruvian rainforest. Their mission is to raise enough money to protect tropical rainforest the size of Herefordshire from illegal loggers, palm oil businesses and oil/gas explorers. Herbfarmacy has secured sponsorship of the areas around our organic farm which will be used to protect 75 acres of rainforest.

With the effects of plastic on our environment coming to light, it is our responsibility as an ethical brand to take action. As of January 2018, Herbfarmacy will cease the purchase of any single-use plastic components for our products and will start the process of phasing out single-use plastics altogether.

The journey to plastic-free will be gradual and pose lots of challenges, but we look forward to facing them head-on for the greater good of creating a sustainable planet for everyone.
